Award-winning circus comedy Return of the GODZ returns to Peacock Theatre
Australian circus company Head First Acrobats will return to the Peacock Theatre in Holborn from Wednesday 10th to Saturday 20th June with Return of The GODZ, an expanded version of their adults-only acrobatic comedy show, following a sold-out run at the same venue in July 2025. The new production introduces a fifth performer to the troupe and additional mythological characters, building on the original show’s mix of circus, storytelling and physical comedy inspired by ancient Greek mythology.
The production centres on the gods of Mount Olympus, including Cupid (God of Love), Hercules (God of Strength) and Dionysus (God of Wine), depicting scenes of ancient Greece through acrobatics, slapstick and a loose narrative framework. The expanded cast now includes Hermes and Apollo alongside the returning gods. The show contains male nudity, swearing and adult themes, and is not suitable for younger audiences.
GODZ previously won Best Circus at the Fringe World festival in 2022, as well as Critics Choice Weekly and Best Circus Weekly at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in the same year.
Co-creator Thomas Gorham said: “I can’t believe we are coming back to the Peacock! – performing GODZ here last year was the highlight of our careers. We are so excited to be bringing Return of the GODZ, a bigger, bolder and sexier version! There are more characters: Hermes joins, Hercules, Dionysus, Cupid and Apollo. The tricks are larger, the costumes more glorious and the naked scenes are even more ridiculous.”
The original London run drew attention for its blend of high-risk acrobatic feats and irreverent humour. Highlights included Cal Harris’s climb atop a tower of chairs as Hercules, Jordan Twartz’s diabolo routine as Dionysus, and head-spinning sequences performed by Apollo. The production also featured comedic set pieces, including a scene in which performers appear as nude statues using golden plates as cover, and a sequence set in a Christian-themed underworld populated by performers dressed as nuns.
Head First Acrobats was founded by professionally trained circus artists and has toured internationally, performing at festivals and theatres across Australia, Europe and Asia. The company’s other productions include Elixir and RAILED. Tickets for Return of The GODZ are available through the Peacock Theatre.
