Boxpark Croydon turns 10 with 1,000 free drinks and all-day birthday party

Boxpark Croydon, the street food and events destination next door to East Croydon station, will celebrate its tenth anniversary next Saturday with a day-long party featuring live music, family entertainment and 1,000 free drinks. The venue, which opened in October 2016, is hosting the occasion as a thank you to the local community. Festivities begin at 11am and end with a live screening of Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace.

Throughout the day, resident DJs will play sets and a live band will perform some of the biggest songs of the past decade. Activities for families include face painting, arts and crafts and a magician, and visitors are encouraged to come in fancy dress, with awards for the best costumes. FanPark games will also return ahead of the match, including keepy-uppy challenges with more prizes to be won.

The free drinks will be available from 3pm while stocks last, limited to one per person. Guests can choose a draught pint, a house wine, a single spirit with mixer or a soft drink. Alcoholic drinks are for over-18s only, and Challenge 25 applies.

At 5.30pm, Crystal Palace’s away match against Tottenham Hotspur will be shown live on the big screens – fittingly, as the venue has become a regular matchday gathering point for Eagles supporters.

Built from more than 90 shipping containers and home to over 30 street food traders, Boxpark Croydon has hosted a range of events and celebrations over the past decade, including a surprise homecoming performance by Stormzy in 2017, a headline set by Fatboy Slim in 2022 and regular nights such as the Big Fat Quizbox and Hip-Hop Karaoke. The team say they have screened more than 2,500 sports matches since opening.

“Ten years of Boxpark Croydon is a huge milestone, and we’re really proud to have been part of the borough’s story for the past decade,” they said. “From matchdays and live music to family celebrations, big nights out and everything in between, we’ve welcomed millions of guests through our doors and created a place where people can come together and make memories. We’re excited to celebrate this special birthday with the Croydon community, and what better way to mark ten years than with a huge party, free drinks, live entertainment and plenty of Boxpark fun.”
