Pasta Evangelists and Parmigiano Reggiano launch new dishes, cheese-themed classes and £1 pasta offer
Restaurant chain Pasta Evangelists has teamed up with the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese consortium on two new dishes and a series of themed pasta-making classes. To mark World Parmigiano Reggiano Day on Tuesday 27th October, participating restaurants will be serving pasta dishes for £1 between 2pm and 5pm for pre-booked diners – and for the true cheese lovers, staff will serve chunks of the cheese cut directly from the wheel at the Farringdon and Soho locations.
Plates available at the special price include the new Fusilli Pesto alla Genovese with Parmigiano Reggiano, as well as a Rigatoni Arrabbiata and Spaghetti Bolognese. The fusilli, priced at £15 outside the promotion, is now on the menu across the group’s restaurants. It pairs fresh fusilli with basil pesto and Parmigiano Reggiano matured for 24 months.
For those looking for a companion to the King of Cheeses that isn’t pasta, the Carnaroli Mushroom Risotto with Parmigiano Reggiano is available only at the Pasta Evangelists outlet in Harrods, priced at £32. The combination features mushrooms with Carnaroli rice and the iconic cheese – the ultimate autumnal indulgence.
The partnership has also planned six Parmigiano Reggiano pasta-making classes, held monthly at a number of branches across the UK and led by Roberta d’Elia, head chef at the company’s Pasta Academy. The hands-on sessions will focus on dishes with the cheese as an ingredient, teaching participants the skills to make fresh pasta at home using traditional Italian techniques.
Ahead of the celebration, Pasta Evangelists is also marking World Pasta Day on Sunday 25th October with a 20% discount on pasta-making class bookings. Customers can use the code WPD20PE on the date to book a class for any future available session.
Parmigiano Reggiano is a Protected Designation of Origin cheese made from milk, salt and rennet, and additives at all. Under EU rules, it must be produced, matured for a minimum of 12 months, packaged and grated within a defined area that covers the provinces of Parma, Reggio Emilia and Modena, along with parts of Mantua and Bologna. The Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium, founded in 1934, represents all producers of the cheese and oversees its protection and promotion.
Pasta Evangelists, which has been owned by Barilla Group since 2021, runs restaurants in locations across London, from Farringdon to Richmond, as well as a high-end pasta bar at Harrods and branches further afield in cities including Manchester and Oxford.
