Lipstick: Back in black
Emo kid and Halloween dark lipstick, which was once a reserve for the goth, has not been associated with “the girl next door” look, but with the likes of Jessie J, Rooney Mara from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Louise Thompson from the current series of Made in Chelsea, all leading the way.
Many fashionistas have complained of seeing too many pretty girly pinks and dull beiges being worn on the red carpet and it would be great to see stars such as Jessica Biel or Keira Knightley step out of that trend and take the plunge with darker shades.
There are many options out there. If you don’t want to go full black, Revlon has Black Cherry which has a red pigment at its base. For those who want to try, but aren’t committed there’s Ben Nye’s LS17 which will give you the black pigment, but won’t cost the earth. But if you have decided that blackest black will be the newest addition to your make-up bag, or you like to show off a label then Illamasqua has Pristine.
Revlon Black Cherry £7.49 is available at Superdrug stores nationwide.
Ben Nye LS17 £9.50 is available from Screenface here.
Illamasqua Pristine £15.50 is available here.
