British actress Felicity Jones: The new face of D&G

British actress Felicity Jones: The new face of D&G

There’s always something nice about a British guy or gal landing a major part in a film or advertising campaign, especially if it’s over the pond. It’s probably something to do with our national patriotism; you only have to think back to the Royal Wedding that resulted in a national holiday to see how much we love to celebrate the success of others. Either way, another English star has been snapped up by a worldwide brand.

This week fashion giant D&G announced that our very own (we Brits say that a lot, don’t we?) Felicity Jones will be the new face of their Beauty/Make-up collection. The 28 year- old actress from Birmingham is the proud owner of English Rose credentials teamed with a touch of Ann Hathaway’s – dare I say it?- oddness. She’s certainly quite a change from the current D&G golden girl, Scarlett Johansson, who is the modern day Marilyn Monroe: busty, beautiful, red lipped and seductive. Jones is a little less well known, although undeniably talented. She has had a successful year, winning the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival for her performance in Like Crazy. For those of you who are around the age of 20, you may recognise her face from the children’s TV show The Worst Witch – now that makes me feel old.

In a statement, the luxury brand outlined the numerous qualities that will make her the perfect face of Dolce & Gabbana, “representing a heady mix of sensuality, confidence and beauty, Felicity Jones offers a sense of divine contradiction. Classically beautiful yet modern in attitude, her audacious gaze is impossible to ignore.” The first campaign for the Khol Collection line will portray her as “an aristocratic, savage girl.”

Next year is set to be another busy 12 months for the rising British star. The ad campaign will be released in January 2012 and this week, it has been announced that Ralph Fiennes has chosen Felicity Jones to portray Charles Dickens’s mistress in the movie The Invisible Woman. This girl is set to be huge, just you wait.
