After a decade of working in the fashion industry, Jocelyn Whipple decided it was time to use her specialist knowledge and valuable contacts for a worthwhile cause. Whipple scouted out the very best in ethical fashion brands, and put them all in one place for her customers. Element 23 stocks brands that are committed to producing sustainable clothing, without having to sacrifice fashionable design.

Here are three of the best:

Mandala is a German label that specialises in ladies sportswear and promises to devote their undivided attention to their customers, their garments and the environment. Their selection of yoga pants and sports bras are made from organic cotton in flattering, feminine cuts and soft, muted colours. Mandala aims to satisfy the needs of their customers who wish to live ethically and dress accordingly.

Organic Leather was founded by Rowan Gabrielle in 2002. The brand’s main role is sourcing organic leather to supply designers, but Gabrielle has also used the sustainable leather to create a jewellery collection. Styled with silver, each bangle, bracelet, pendant or charm is handmade so customers know they are getting a one of a kind piece.

My personal favourite Element 23 brand is Stewart + Brown, a Californian brand that was established in 2002 by couple Karen Stewart and Howard Brown. Both artists, Karen and Howard were inspired to create a clothing range by their mutual love of design and respect for the environment. Specialising in luxurious knitwear, Stewart + Brown attempts to fulfill its mission of producing the highest standards of quality and functioning style, while only utilising the bare minimum of the Earth’s precious resources. Believing that we all have a responsibility to protect our planet for future generations, Stewart + Brown donates a percentage of its sales to both social welfare and environmental charities.
