Federer beats Isner to claim record 4th title and 19th Master 1000

World No. 3 Roger Federer claimed two records today as he beat American giant John Isner in straight sets.

Isner, who reached the final by defeating top seed Novak Djokovic, fought hard during the first set, which ended up in a very tight tie-break. Although the American had the advantage of a portentous service, Federer closed the first half of the match 7-6(7).

The Swiss maestro took the control of the game with powerful and sharp forehands to prevail on Isner 6-3.

Federer is now the first man to win four titles at the Indian Wells tournament and has levelled with Nadal as the player with most Master 1000 titles.
