Homemade hair conditioner recipes: Cheap and effective solution to a clean cut

Raise your hand if you would like to have hair to caress, softer, shinier and glossier!

However, it’s not quite like that yet, especially after the sudden change of season or if you have just come back from a summer holiday with all killer effects of sea-salt, sun and wind.

Not to mention the damages caused by some treatments and by the use of hairdryer and hair straighteners. In general, if you have fine hair it dries up, and if you have curly hair it ripples drastically. A true disaster!

The good news is that this time The Upcoming is here to the rescue, to show you that healthy, shiny-soft hair really does exist. Declare war on dry hair, split ends and dull colour. Here are totally cheap homemade solutions: special targeted deep hair conditioner recipes that will help you to regain amazing hair without resorting to a clean cut.

Some simple preliminary recommendations:

1. Don’t go overboard with the amount and apply the product sparingly, according to the length of your hair.

2. You can improve the effect of the treatment wrapping your head with a layer of cling film: the heat will increase the absorption of active ingredients.

3. Rinsed your head very thoroughly with warm water – not hot – to avoid gluing the mask to your hair.

4. If the weather permits, use cold water and vinegar: you will shine dangerously!

Mayonnaise decadence

If you are daughters of the 80s, surely you remember the movie, Dying Young, where Julia Roberts plays the assistant to a beautiful but sick young man during the last months of his life. Certainly, you didn’t miss the scene where she prepares for a romantic date with a blob of mayonnaise on the top of her head?

If the result is that beautiful, buff, dense and elastic cascade of curls, then what are we waiting for? Nourishing, strengthening and polishing effect thanks to egg’s proteins, unsaturated fats and honey’s minerals, mayo is the answer.

How to:

Beat one egg in a bowl and add one tablespoon of honey and one tablespoon of olive oil previously heated. Stir until a smooth paste and apply from roots to ends for 20 minutes.

Tropical Dream

If you don’t fancy sitting with a mayo mask in your hair, you can apply a luscious tropical scent mask instead.

Moisturising and polishing effect due to the ferments and fatty acids of yoghurt and magnesium content in cocoa, this quick and easy to prepare mask will become a beauty routine.

How to:

Mix together 3/4 tablespoons of plain yogurt, one tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder and one teaspoon of coconut milk or oil; mix until smooth and uniform and apply on hair for 20 minutes.

 Jam (flaxseed) Session

If your colour has switched off, looking all depressed and your hair breaks too easily, it is time to strengthen it and lift the mood!

This has a polishing and reinforcing effect due to the fatty acids released from flaxseed.

How to:

In a pressure cooker, cook two handfuls of flax seeds in one litre of water for 20 minutes.

When the mixture is still warm, strain the liquid through a sieve and discard the seeds. Use the gel as a conditioner. Will keep for three weeks in the refrigerator.

Cocktail Party

At your next home party, you remember to keep aside some leftovers. No, I do not mean shrimp sauce, but for example about a small avocado with which you can prepare a nutrient-rich smoothie to help your hair recover from the revelry and come back to shine in time for Monday.

How to:

Mash the pulp of an avocado with two teaspoons of olive oil until the mixture is smooth. Apply on the hair for 20 minutes.

Tavern’ s Remedy

If you have hair so thin and completely flat, this one is for you! A quick wrap with a pretty strong beer will help raise even the most desperate cases. If you don’t want even a lightening effect, protect your hair with jojoba oil.

How to:

Add one tablespoon of jojoba oil to 200 cc of clear or dark beer. Take a few rinses with this mixture and then rinse thoroughly with cold water.
