Handstitched With Love

Handstitched With Love

Handstitched With Love is exactly what it says: pieces that are hand-stitched and embroidered with love. The aim of the brand is to create everyday accessories using an old form of embroidery, but making them modern and relevant. The pieces are inspired by vintage needlework and Scholastica’s two little girls.

They stock everything from rings and necklaces to bookmarks and cufflinks all with different designs and colours. There really is something for everyone and they make perfect gifts for family and friends. The designs range from love hearts to letters and eagles to zodiac signs.

We asked Scholastica where the idea for the brand came from: “The idea for Handstitched With Love started when my husband challenged me to use cross stitch to make something relevant and useful.  I thought it would be fun to take little stitched pieces and turn them into wearables –I love how they can be ‘showed off’ and my husband is happy as we were seriously running out of wall space for my many stitched samples! I started making them for friends and family and before I knew it, I was selling them on Etsy and Notonthehighstreet.com.”

“I’d like to think that Handstitched With Love is for anyone who likes their jewellery handmade, personal and a bit different. Each piece is hand-stitched and framed by me, and I really love doing custom orders – I was once asked to do matching Pac-Man cufflinks and earrings for a Pac-Man-mad couple to wear on their wedding day!”

When asked if there was anyone who she would like to see wearing the brand, she replied: “I did spy Emma Stone wearing a Dolce & Gabbana lace cross stitch dress so maybe she’d appreciate a cross stitch necklace too?”  We’re sure she would!

Handstitched With Love sent us some really cute goodies. What impressed us the most was the packaging and the attention to detail. When the box arrived, the first thing we noticed was the “Hello there” sticker on the front. Then once opened it was filled with two smaller boxes and a box wrapped in tissue paper and ribbon tied in a bow. The boxes all feel handmade and slightly vintage, just like the brand image. The use of the little stickers, “Hello there” and “Smile lots” was brilliant and there was even a handwritten note inside. It’s these small touches that really make a brand stick out from another, and everyone here at The Upcoming has fallen in love with the Handstitched With Love brand, as well as everything that they sell.
