The tropical fun collection was all about expressing the inner self, embodying the African culture as an international unifier.  Tata Naka succeeded in showing a different side of African Tribes, a friendly, extrovert side created through unique fashion garments. Colourful tartan dresses and skirts with different patterns and prints, accessorised with multi-coloured, pale wild flowers and animal-print pony skin slippers created an accordant meeting between fashion and nature.  The collection included African waxed prints and silk jacquard fabrics, all being in bright, bold colours combined with tones of volcanic rocks and mineral pigments, representing a blending of the collection with nature.

LFW AW17 - Taka Naka - Erol Birsen - The Upcoming-6The models represented the fearless, outstanding woman as they were dancing, covered in painted flowers reflecting the warm African sunshine. Tata Naka’s collection represented the multitude of different people, cultures and identities which influenced fashion throughout history, creating an alluring creative chaos.

LFW AW17 - Taka Naka - Erol Birsen - The Upcoming-21If it’s common for the more complex look to stand out from the crowd, here it was the opposite. One look distinguished itself from the others because of its simplicity: a pale beige, straight-fitted dress, with African –inspired appliqués of gold, red and blue, covering half of the look from the waist down.

Taka Naka presented a playful and retro A/W 2013 collection at Portico Rooms for London Fashion Week.
