Limbo wows with a cabaret performance at London Wonderground

Limbo wows with a cabaret performance at London Wonderground | Theatre review

Roll up, roll up, and prepare yourself for the most entertaining performance of the summer!

The beat-boxing, fire-eating, sword-swallowing, pole-dancing, all-singing and all-dancing coterie of international performers in Limbo have arrived directly from a sell-out run at the Adelaide Festival to the showground of Wonderground on London’s Southbank.

With a visually stunning cast of talented performers, Limbo boasts showmanship to rival anything the silver screen could offer with the help of CGI or special effects. The sheer tirelessness and daring of each individual, risking life right before the wide-eyes of the audience is not just thrilling, but actively induces a real surge of adrenaline, keeping the attentive spectators transfixed for 75 unwavering minutes.

Each performer possesses a personal, awe-inspiring showpiece: from pure strength and balance, to dubious-looking bodily contortions, there is guaranteed to be something you haven’t seen before. While time is given for each artist to display their talent, praise is also deserved for the fluid exchange between the individuals from one act to the next. With the assistance of music and dance the show flows consistently like a magical dream.

Lighting up the stage with fire and light-effects, elevating themselves above the crowd and all expectations, there really is nothing these skilful performers can’t do. The accompanying musical score featuring some catchy tunes is both complimentary and amazing in its own right. In particular, look out for a certain “Nasty, nasty, tasty, tasty” – genius!

After an evening with these terrific artists, one could be forgiven for mistakenly thinking they were hallucinating.

Aimed at an audience over 15 years old – this is not entertainment for children – Limbo is running until September. Escape the everyday London monotony and make sure you satisfy your senses with Limbo at Wonderground.

Limbo is at London Wonderground until 29th September 2013. For further information or to book visit London Wonderground’s website here.
