For the love of fashion: Couture Fair 2013

Couture Fair is an independent boutique event that brings together the best and brightest of London’s high end, high street fashions. A panel of up-and-coming creatives come together to showcase a selection of beautifully curated pieces. Held semi-annually, the event aims to give the avid fashion lover the opportunity to both shop and chat with the designers, giving a unique experience and perspective. The venue? Exquisite. The goodies? Even better. Located at the Calvert 22 art gallery (which boasts immediate chic), we were greeted with fancy pastries and bubbles-in-tow. As we walked around the bend, we were blown away by the talent London has to offer. Here are some of our favourites:

Although we may be partial to sparkle, what Sheena Bulsara has to offer goes beyond. A master of confection, much of Bulsara’s collection is entirely hand crafted, and one-of-a-kind. Having spent much of her career collecting the most consummate of beads, gems, stones and everything in between, Bulsara uses her creations as a platform for freedom of self-expression. Undefined by boundary, her pieces offer the versatility and lux the high street is looking for.

Shape-shifters unite! Inspired by duality and reinvention, designer Delia Fiori’s “aCtidute” gives real emphasis on allowing yourself to be who you want, when you want, no matter the place or time. Her use of textures, shapes and lengths allow you to pursue both your inner sexy and cool, all at once. With removable collars and half way hems, “aCtidute” gives you dress with option, but without confinement.

Last but definitely not least is Dutch jewellery designer Nina Van Houten. London based, Van Houten takes inspiration from cultural themes and uses original materials to redefine jewellery through works of art. Consistently introducing new textures and spaces, all the while maintaining artful glamour, Nina shows the ingenuity contemporary jewellery so often craves.

A smashing hit, Couture Fair has elegantly made it’s mark and we cannot wait to see what’s in store for these to-be-watched for designers.
