Sean Anders’s Daddy’s Home 2 is the Christmassy reboot of (you guessed it) 2015 Daddy’s Home. Throwing into the man-off between Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell as father and step-father Brad and Dusty are their two grandads, played by screen legend Mel Gibson and John Lithgow, who come to visit for Christmas. Following the success of the family comedy, initial US box office figures suggest the stellar-cast seasonal incarnation is likely to follow suit.

The film had its UK premiere last night at London’s Vue in Leicester Square with a suitably Christmassy red carpet brimming with fans as well as Christmas lights, Christmas tree, fake snow and a Christmas-suited and booted Alex Zane.

We had the pleasure of speaking to the fan-accosted Mel Gibson, comedy favourite Will Ferrell, super star Mark Wahlberg and award-winning John Lithgow about the fun the four screen titans had on set, their favourite of the many gags and scenarios (reportedly many of them improvised) and Sean Anders’ art of reaching that careful balance of comedy for both kids and adults.
