Hinds announces new album Viva Hinds featuring Beck, marking a triumphant return

Spanish indie rock sensation Hinds has unveiled details of their eagerly anticipated fourth album Viva Hinds, set for release on the 6th of September 2024 through Lucky Number. Alongside this announcement comes the premiere of their lead single Boom Boom Back, featuring the iconic artist Beck. This follows a series of sold-out shows across Europe and London in May, with a headline performance slated for Lafayette, London, on the 13th of September.

Viva Hinds emerges as a beacon of triumph and resilience for the Madrid-based band, following a challenging period marked by their 2020 album The Prettiest Curse, lineup changes and the global pandemic’s impact. The album was birthed from the creative partnership of co-founders, co-vocalists, co-guitarists and co-songwriters Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote, who, despite adversities, found their enduring friendship to be the cornerstone of their renewed artistic vision. The duo described their bond as being “millionaires in friendship”, a connection that fueled the creation of what they consider their most honest, adventurous and celebratory work to date.

The upcoming album, recorded in rural France and produced by Pete Robertson (Beabadoobee), with Grammy-nominated Tom Roach as engineer and Grammy-winner Caesar Edmunds mixing, promises a blend of Spanish and English tracks. It features notable collaborations with artists like Beck and Grian Chatten of Fontaines DC. The lead single Boom Boom Back signifies a bold stride into this new chapter for Hinds, characterised by its hypnotic groove and the distinctive charm that has defined the band’s sound and live performances.

Hinds’ journey from their debut a decade ago to the present reflects a narrative of determination and artistic integrity. From overcoming the legal challenge of a name change from Deers to Hinds, to embarking on nearly 500 shows worldwide, their story is one of embracing every obstacle as a stepping stone towards greater achievements. Their unwavering friendship and shared creative vision have seen them through the highs and lows of the music industry, from celebrated festival appearances and television debuts to navigating the uncertainties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As Hinds prepare to release Viva Hinds and take their live shows back on the road, including a series of dates across the UK, Mexico and the United States, the band remains a testament to the power of friendship, resilience and the relentless pursuit of musical expression. With Viva Hinds, Hinds not only celebrate their past and present but also signal a bright and unwavering future in the ever-evolving landscape of indie rock.
