Ladbroke Hall unveils new alfresco garden combining Italian cuisine with contemporary art

North Kensington’s Ladbroke Hall has opened its doors to a new alfresco garden, offering a combination of art, design, and Italian cuisine. Situated at 79 Barlby Road, this lush outdoor space has been designed by Tuscan-born and London-based landscape architect Luciano Giubbilei. The garden not only provides a serene oasis with its striking bamboo trees and a brick backdrop but also doubles as an 18-seater private dining area housed within a Maison Démontable by Jean Prouvé.

The verdant venue is an extension of the Gambero Rosso award-winning Pollini restaurant, which has quickly become a gastronomic hotspot since its inauguration in late 2023. With a capacity of 70 covers, the garden is set to cater to guests for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Friday and brunch over the weekend.

At the heart of this initiative is Emanuele Pollini, born in 1986, Cesena, Italy, whose career spans some of the world’s most renowned kitchens. Pollini’s signature dishes, such as Mortadella e Tartufo Nero, along with an array of pasta delicacies, the likes of Ravioli della Graziella which is a contemporary interpretation of the lasagna by the chef’s mother, and Tortelloni di Bufala e Spinaci, together with the homemade desserts, highlight the menu. The culinary offerings are complemented by an extensive wine and cocktail list, featuring bespoke creations like a refreshing twist of the Spritz, prepared with Suze, Berto Bitter, Chandon Spritz and Cucumber and Watermelon Soda, and the intriguing Mezcaleen, a blend of Mezcal Verde, Fair Kumquat, Anchor Reyes Verde, Spicy Lime Juice Mix and Agave Syrup.

The garden is also adorned with sculptures from the Carpenters Workshop Gallery, showcasing pieces by the late American designer Wendell Castle and South Korean artist Won-Min Park, among others. This collaboration underscores Ladbroke Hall’s commitment to merging dining with the arts, providing a platform for both emerging and established artists.

Ladbroke Hall itself is a reimagined arts and social club, aimed at fostering creative expression across various forms, hosting from weekly Jazz evenings, poetry readings, panel discussions, live gigs and screenings. The space is a testament to the area’s renewed cultural vitality, located in the heart of Notting Hill. The Hall’s transformation from a front building of the Clément-Talbot factory into a vibrant hub is spearheaded by Loïc Le Gaillard and Julien Lombrail, founders of the Carpenters Workshop Gallery.
