“As humans, we just love mystery”: Ruby Stokes and Archie Renaux on The Jetty

In the four-episode TV series The Jetty, Detective Ember Manning’s (Jenna Coleman) investigation of a fire on a houseboat leads her and her partner Hitch (Archie Renaux) down a dark path of the Lancashire town’s secrets. In order to dig deeper into the suspicious behaviour of one of the local teenagers, she enlists her own daughter Hannah (Ruby Stokes) and her gossiping friends as informants. When a podcaster reporting on crime committed against women joins the scene, a complex web of memory, lies and sexual ethics unfolds.

The Upcoming spoke to the young talents Stokes and Renaux about their casting process, the experience of shooting under adverse weather conditions and their own personal connections to crime shows and podcasts.

The Jetty is released on BBC iPlayer on 15th July 2024.
