Mandarin Oriental Mayfair to launch ABar Rooftop

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair to launch ABar Rooftop

On the 11th of November, Mandarin Oriental Mayfair will unveil its latest addition, ABar Rooftop, a new 50-seat bar located on the hotel’s roof, offering panoramic views across London, including landmarks like Hampstead Heath and the London Eye. This latest venture by Chef Akira Back aims to provide a blend of seasonal cocktails and gourmet dining, enhancing the capital’s vibrant bar scene with a breathtaking setting.

ABar Rooftop’s concept revolves around the dynamic and ever-changing seasons of the city, with its cocktail menu divided into four parts: Haru (spring), Natsu (summer), Aki (autumn), and Fuyu (winter). Among the standout drinks are the Artichoke Thyme, a reimagined Old Fashioned with roasted artichoke-infused Whistle Pig 10 Years Old whiskey, and the Fig & Yuzu, a fresh take on the White Negroni. Additionally, the Grapefruit & Jasmine combines Roku gin with mezcal, jasmine liqueur, and grapefruit soda, capturing the essence of a jasmine-scented rain.

Chef Back, known for his Michelin Star background and global culinary influence, has designed a food menu that complements the drinks. Daytime offerings include lighter fare such as a Miso Niçoise Salad and a Grilled Salmon Poke Bowl, while the evening menu features an array of sushi tacos, new-style sashimi, and caviar.

The experience begins with the private lift that leads to the venue, encased in a stunning glass cube. The design of ABar Rooftop aims to mirror the skies above. With an interior palette of sky blues, champagne tones, and rich ambers, and a striking cloud-inspired chandelier at its centre, the bar provides a sophisticated background. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer guests an uninterrupted view of the cityscape.

Operating seven days a week, from Thursday to Saturday, during the evening hours of 7pm to 11pm, there will be live DJ performances adding up to the atmosphere.

This opening marks another significant addition to Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, which already houses the UK’s first Akira Back restaurant and the contemporary Korean-inspired Dosa, among other luxury amenities.
