Blending his Sri Lankan heritage and modern mixology, Ryan Chetiyawardana, Mr Lyan, introduces a new range of cocktail seasonings in 2025. Dubbed Three Families, the collection is a collaboration with three Sri Lankan families, each with deep roots in the beverage industry. The seasonings, encapsulating the tropical essence of Sri Lanka, will be available in the UK, Singapore, and Australia.

The concept behind Three Families combines traditional bitters techniques with the vibrant flavours of fruit distillates and extracts, designed to enhance and personalize a variety of cocktails. From a Gin & Tonic to an Old Fashioned, but also creative experimentations with food, the seasonings will be key components for twists to both new and classic recipes.

The range features five distinct blends, each highlighting key Sri Lankan ingredients such as coriander seeds, rambutan, lemongrass, and peppercorns, some cornerstones of the island’s gastronomic culture, other also bearing historical significance for the hub in ancient Asian trade routes.

The partnership sees the collaboration of three families. Amal de Silva Wijeyeratne is the Managing Director of Rockland Distilleries, which is Sri Lanka’s oldest distillery. Ryan Chetiyawardana himself brings a personal connection to the project, having been born in Birmingham, England, to Sri Lankan parents. Dilhan Fernando, CEO of Dilmah Tea, is a leading Sri Lankan tea producer dating back to the 1960s and particularly established for its Ceylon Tea.

The Three Families cocktail seasonings line includes:

  • Ceylon Sour, which combines calamansi, tamarind, and coriander seed for a citrusy lift.
  • Verdant Sinhaya, featuring preserved mandarin, wildflower honey, and lemongrass, ideal for a vibrant martini.
  • Pettah Market, a mix of rambutan, jasmine, and arrack that captures the essence of Sri Lankan markets.
  • Sunset Pekoe, which blends Pekoe Tea, turmeric, and toasted oak for a warming spice.
  • Amethyst Punch, a combination of green tea, mangosteen, and peppercorn to enhance the complexity of punches.

This mixology range will be available for trade from 20th November 2024 and to consumers from 28th January 2025.
