Bateaux Parisiens launches new Seine cruise spotlighting Notre-Dame restoration

Bateaux Parisiens, a river cruise operator in Paris, has announced the launch of a new water-bourne experience focusing on the Notre-Dame cathedral. Running from April to June 2025, the trip will depart from the Quai de Montebello at the foot of Notre-Dame, offering passengers a close-up view of the iconic site as well as other notable Parisian landmarks, and aiming to provide both locals and tourists with an opportunity to see the city from a new perspective – particularly as restoration work continues on Notre-Dame following the 2019 fire.

The new cruise will operate from Thursday to Sunday, with departures scheduled at 5pm, 7pm, 8.30pm and 10pm. Each journey will last one hour, passing major sites including Notre-Dame, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower, before returning to the starting point. Passengers will board the Jean Marais, one of the company’s renovated boats designed to accommodate a smaller number of guests for a more intimate experience.

According to Bateaux Parisiens, each guest will be offered a glass of Pommery champagne (or a non-alcoholic alternative) with a sweet treat, and additional drinks and gourmet snacks will be available for purchase on board. Live commentary will be provided in both English and French by a bilingual guide, who will share information about the history and architecture of Notre-Dame, as well as other landmarks visible from the Seine. The company states, “Aboard the Jean Marais, both locals and international visitors will have the chance to experience a unique journey.”

The new offering comes at a time when interest in Notre-Dame remains high, as restoration efforts continue ahead of the cathedral’s planned reopening. The cruise provides an alternative way to view the monument while access to its interior remains limited.
