London’s first rooftop tequileria, Miradora, opens in Theatreland

A new rooftop venue specialising in tequila has recently opened in central London. Miradora, the city’s first rooftop tequileria, launches on the 10th floor of the Assembly Hotel, Charing Cross Road. The new project aims to bring a dedicated Mexican-inspired bar and dining experience to the heart of Theatreland, offering panoramic views of London landmarks including The Shard, Nelson’s Column, and the London Eye.

Miradora is the latest project from Criterion Hospitality, the group behind the Zedwell hotel brand and other London rooftop venues such as the 1 Leicester Square Rooftop Bar and Restaurant. The company develops hospitality concepts in repurposed urban buildings, and Miradora is intended as a new addition to their portfolio of lifestyle destinations.

The venue will feature a menu of 101 tequilas, alongside mezcals and tequila-based cocktails. Drinks entail classic styles such as blancos and añejos, as well as small-batch and flavoured infusions. Partnerships have been established with brands the likes of Casamigos, Don Julio, Patrón, Volcán, Clase Azul, and 818. Among the signature cocktails available are Pineapple Serrano, Nectarine Dream, Mezcal Mist, and an Espresso Martini made with Cazcabel Coffee Tequila.

The food menu at the restaurant side is prepared in collaboration with Danny Staples of DASS Hospitality. The offering includes Mexican dishes designed for sharing, among which there are Masa Fried Chicken with chipotle aioli, Carne Asada with salsa picante and guacamole, Ceviche Tostada with citrus-cured cod and pineapple salsa, and a Tequila & Citrus Sorbet served with a shot of tequila.

The Miradora will soon be host to regular programmes. Saturdays will feature a Casamigos 90’s Bottomless Brunch from midday to 6 pm, with live DJs on Friday and Saturday nights. Sundays will offer a Tequila Makes Me Happy Happy Hour, and a set menu will be available for pre-theatre diners, priced at £25 for two courses or £30 for three. And of course, Taco Tuesday promotions are not to be missed.

Miradora’s interior design incorporates modern Mexican influences, including a graffiti mural by artist and musician Sam Sure, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. The venue plans to mark Mexican holidays Día de los Muertos and Cinco de Mayo with special events.
