Ta’mini Lebanese Bakery to open largest branch in Kensington this July

Ta’mini Lebanese Bakery will open its third London location this July in Kensington. The bakery, founded and operated by husband-and-wife team Ali and Nermin, specialises in contemporary Lebanese baked goods and savoury dishes, all prepared using traditional methods. The new site will be the largest of the three branches and marks a continued expansion of the business, which first launched in Fulham during the UK’s 2020 lockdown.

Originally from North Lebanon and Beirut respectively, Ali and Nermin opened the first Ta’mini as a takeaway bakery during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their offering of daily baked manakish, ka’ak, Arabic cookies, hummus pots and Lebanese salads quickly attracted a local following. The success of the Fulham site led to the opening of a second branch in Bloomsbury in 2023.

The Kensington location will feature 20 seats for dine-in customers and is expected to cater to local residents, office workers and tourists. The bakery’s interior will follow the brand’s signature design, featuring a sunshine yellow colour scheme and a visible stone oven located at the back of the café. Signature items on the menu include Manakish, a Lebanese flatbread made from vegan dough and topped with ingredients such as feta cheese and spinach, spiced cheese with mortadella, and Kafta (a mix of minced beef and lamb with Arabic spices). Other offerings include Mini Bites – sesame-coated street breads with various fillings – and a range of cold deli salads such as tabbouleh and fattoush. Ka’ak, a traditional Lebanese bread, is available in sweet and savoury varieties, and the bakery also serves wraps and desserts like Pistachio Date Bread and homemade custards.

Ali and Nermin remain closely involved in the day-to-day operations of all three sites, with many dishes drawing from family recipes. “We’re inspired by the flavours of home,” they say, “Everything we sell is baked, not fried.”

The couple aim to bring a taste of the Levant to the Kensington area, filling what they see as a gap in the local food scene. The new location is expected to open its doors in early July.
