Lolo restaurant to host Spanish cooking workshop inspired by José Pizarro’s latest cookbook

On Sunday 4th August, Bermondsey restaurant Lolo will host a Spanish cooking workshop inspired by chef/owner José Pizarro’s latest cookbook, The Spanish Pantry. The event, which begins at 6.30 pm and runs until 9pm, will offer attendees a hands-on introduction to regional Spanish cooking, guiding them step-by-step through selected recipes to gain practical skills and insights into the use of staple Spanish pantry items. The evening will culminate in a communal meal and a copy of the cookbook to take home, with the aim to showcase the culinary traditions of Spain through ten essential ingredients featured in the cookbook.

Pizarro is a well-known figure in the UK food scene, with several restaurants and cookbooks to his name. His latest publication continues his focus on authentic Spanish cuisine, with an emphasis on accessible ingredients and home-style cooking highlighting key components of Spanish cuisine for recipes that focus on simplicity and flavour. The evening at Lolo is designed to bring these dishes to life in an interactive setting – a “fun, intimate evening” with a relaxed atmosphere that allows for both learning and socialising.

The workshop adds to the growing number of experiential dining and culinary education events that have become increasingly popular in London. Tickets are priced at £65 and include the cooking session, the sit-down meal and a complimentary copy of the cookbook. The event is limited in capacity, suggesting a small group format to maintain an intimate and hands-on experience.
