The Libertines announce surprise London warm-up show ahead of Gunnersbury Park festival finale

As their globe-spanning world tour draws to a close, The Libertines have announced a last-minute intimate warm-up show set to take place this Thursday, 31st July, at a secret West London venue. With just 250 tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis, fans have the rare chance to see the band up close before their massive outdoor finale at The Libertines Festival in Gunnersbury Park on Saturday 9th August.

The warm-up gig, priced at £22.50, promises to be a stripped-back, electric affair — a sharp contrast to the festival-scale show the band will headline just over a week later. Attendees will only learn the venue location once selected, adding an extra dose of mystique to the one-off event.

Their upcoming Gunnersbury Park performance will cap off an extraordinary run in support of their acclaimed 2024 number one album All Quiet On the Eastern Esplanade. The tour has seen the indie stalwarts sell out shows across continents, from Australia and Mexico to South Korea and Germany, concluding with their homecoming in London. They’ll be joined at the festival by a stellar line-up of guests including Supergrass, Soft Play, Hak Baker, Lambrini Girls and Real Farmer.

Speaking about the tour’s final leg, Peter Doherty said: “We are going to take a break, live life a little for a bit and enjoy some time in the wilderness communing with nature, and see where the muse takes us. Hopefully, you can make it to the final night of the tour at Gunnersbury Park. It’s gonna be historic. If not, we’ll see you down the road sometime.”

Critics have hailed the tour as a career high, with The Guardian calling them “the greatest British rock band of the last 25 years” and NME describing their Glastonbury set as “one of the highlights of the weekend”.

With this Thursday’s club gig and the forthcoming Gunnersbury Park date marking the end of a defining chapter for the band, The Libertines are set to go out on a high – before retreating into the unknown once more.
