The Abingdon launches Seafood Saturday Brunch

The Abingdon launches Seafood Saturday Brunch

Long-standing family-run bistro in Kensington, The Abingdon, has launched a new Seafood Saturday Brunch, available weekly from 11.30 am to 4 pm. Designed to provide a relaxed weekend dining option, the brunch features a seafood-focused menu including Maldon Rock Oysters, Crevettes, Crab on Toast, and Crayfish & Prawn Skagen Roll.

Run by sisters Amicia and Suki, The Abingdon has been a fixture of the local dining scene for over 25 years. The pair took over the business from their parents, who restored the premises in 1998 after relocating from Cadaqués, a coastal town in Catalonia with a rich artistic heritage. Their parents had previously operated a restaurant there and were part of a creative community that included Salvador Dalí.

Amicia and Suki have continued the family’s hospitality tradition, maintaining The Abingdon’s reputation as a neighbourhood favourite. The restaurant’s interior features wood-panelled walls, booth seating, and a mixture of Art Deco elements and eclectic artwork. The menu blends longstanding staples with seasonal specials, and several dishes have remained unchanged for decades – like the Chicken Curry, which was once removed from the menu in the mid-2000s but returned due to customer demand. Another favourite among the regulars is the legendary Cheese Soufflé.

The kitchen focuses on British ingredients, prepared with modern techniques and international influences. The wine list, curated by Amicia, includes both Old World selections and newer, more experimental blends, with a notable inclusion of English wines. The bar also serves classic cocktails and draught beer, to be accompanied by some bar snacks throughout the afternoon.

In warmer months, the restaurant opens onto a street-side terrace, for the option of alfresco dining reminiscent of southern European cafés. On Sundays, the venue serves traditional roasts to groups of families and friends.

The Abingdon’s new brunch menu is part of an ongoing effort to expand its offerings while maintaining its role as a community dining spot. The restaurant is located on the corner of Abingdon Road and Abingdon Villas, just off High Street Kensington.
