Big Mamma Group to open first Irish restaurant, Gloria Osteria, in Dublin’s city centre this November

Big Mamma Group, the Paris-based restaurant collective featuring flamboyant Italian eateries, is opening its first Irish venue this November. Gloria Osteria Dublin will launch at 41 Westmoreland Street in the heart of the city, marking the group’s latest expansion into new European markets. The restaurant will occupy a restored 19th-century bank building on the city’s southside and aims to bring a distinctive take on Italian dining, inspired by its Milanese counterpart, which first opened in 2023.
The Dublin branch of Gloria Osteria follows the concept established in many other outlets, with a design aesthetic rooted in 1970s Italian glamour. The interior has been overhauled by Big Mamma’s in-house design team, Studio Kiki, featuring handcrafted timber joinery from Arezzo and scarlet Jacopo Foggini chandeliers. The main dining area—a burgundy-hued room filled with vintage artefacts and fashion items sourced from Italian markets—sits at the centre of the space. A 10-metre Rosso Levanto marble bar, illuminated by 700 vintage bottles, provides a focal point, while a private dining room, the Salottino, offers seating for 22 guests.
Heading up the kitchen is Chef Davide Migallo, who has created a menu that focuses on traditional Italian dishes made with ingredients sourced from artisanal producers across Italy – including the likes of burrata from Caseificio la Murgia, red prawns from Mazara del Vallo, and 24-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano from Famiglia Gennari.
Signature dishes will comprise a one-metre-long Spaghettone served with truffle sauce and a Veal Ossobuco slow-cooked in Guinness. Desserts are designed to be visually striking, with offerings such as a six-inch-tall Lemon Pie and a Chocolate Soufflé made with Valrhona chocolate.
The drinks menu will feature a range of Italian wines, including Brunello di Montalcino and Barbaresco, alongside cocktails such as the Poker Negroni—a tasting flight of three Negroni variations.
Big Mamma Group, which operates over 30 restaurants across Europe, received B-Corp certification in 2018 for its commitment to sustainable practices. Gloria Osteria Dublin will be the group’s first location in Ireland and follows recent openings in Milan and Barcelona.
