Frederick Forster unveils new à la carte menu at 190 Queen’s Gate at The Gore

Head chef Frederick Forster has unveiled a new à la carte menu at 190 Queen’s Gate, the restaurant located within The Gore in South Kensington. It launched on Tuesday and aims to highlight British culinary traditions with a focus on seasonal and sustainably sourced ingredients.
Boutique hotel The Gore, established in 1892, keeps a long-standing focus on blending heritage with innovation. Its in-house restaurant, 190 Queen’s Gate, has undergone several transformations over the decades, including a no-reservations concept in the 1990s led by Antony Worrall Thompson. The latest development continues its legacy under the guidance of Frederick Forster, a chef with a pedigree that spans several prestigious kitchens including The Ritz London, Sandy Lane Hotel in Barbados and Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, working with industry figures such as Raymond Blanc, Michel Roux Jr and Gordon Ramsay. He is one of only two chefs in the UK to have won the Roux Scholarship (in 2000), National Chef of the Year (2011) and Master of Culinary Arts (2014).
The new offering reflects Forster’s training in both British and French disciplines. Influenced by his time at The Savoy and the three-Michelin-starred Régis et Jacques Marcon in France, the dishes aim to balance refined technique with local flavours. “Embodying a quintessentially British ethos, our new à la carte menu is rooted in sustainability and true provenance, where every dish captures the local journey of each and every ingredient. The menu presents a modern expression of timeless opulence, where technique and flavour come together with purpose,” he said.
Dishes include starters such as Orkney Scallops with Smoked Sausage and Ginger Emulsion and a Tart of Leek and Yoredale Wensleydale. Among the main courses is Norfolk Black Chicken accompanied by Wiltshire autumn truffles and herb gnocchi in a butternut squash velouté. Ingredients are sourced from regional suppliers, and the restaurant offers an English wine list to complement the locally inspired dishes.
Stefano Squecco, general manager, commented, “We are incredibly proud to unveil this new chapter for 190 Queen’s Gate. The Gore London has long been synonymous with culture, creativity and craftsmanship, values that are perfectly reflected in Frederick’s culinary philosophy. The à la carte menu is an evolution that we believe will appeal to our guests.”
