Sichuan restaurant Noodle and Beer in London’s Chinatown is collaborating with Australian winemaker Penfolds to launch a limited series of wine-paired dinners this November and December. The event, titled Noodle and Wine Wednesdays, will take place on four consecutive Wednesdays – 19th and 26th November, and 3rd and 10th December – at the restaurant’s Wardour Street location. The experience comprises a curated multi-course menu with wine pairings chosen to complement each dish.

Known for its spicy Sichuan cuisine and craft beer selection, Noodle and Beer will temporarily expand its drinks offering to include wines from Penfolds, a producer with a nearly 180-year history. Each Wednesday, guests can opt for either a two-course menu priced at £45 per person or a three-course option for £60.

The set menu features dishes selected from the restaurant’s regular selection, each matched with a different Penfolds wine. The starter, Choo Shou – chicken dumplings filled with minced chicken and lotus root – is paired with Penfolds Bin 51 Riesling. For the main course, diners will be served Super King Braised Beef Ribs with Blanket Noodles, accompanied by Bin 138 Shiraz Grenache Mataro. The dessert course, Hong Tang Ci Ba, a sticky rice cake with brown sugar sauce, is paired with Penfolds Father Tawny.

The event will take place in the restaurant’s lower level, already decked out – as per its usual decor – in deep reds aligned with Penfolds’ iconic style, and intended to be the perfect setting for a more intimate dining experience.

Founded by Xiaoxiao Wang, Noodle and Beer operates two London locations and specialises in Chongqing and Sichuan dishes, with a focus on handmade noodles and house-made chilli oils. The restaurant combines traditional Chinese street-food elements with a contemporary atmosphere.

Penfolds, based in South Australia, with its signature blending style, has expanded its winemaking operations to include vineyards in France, the United States, and China.
