The Swan Inn in Esher swaps British festive fare for Spanish-inspired group menus by José Pizarro
The Swan Inn in Esher is offering a Spanish-inspired alternative to traditional British festive fare this Christmas, with set menus curated by chef José Pizarro. From now until the end of the festive period, the Surrey pub is serving pre-ordered group menus featuring classic regional dishes, aiming to provide a relaxed and convivial dining experience.
The festive offerings are available by pre-order only and are designed for groups looking to gather over shared plates. Pizarro, who has built a reputation for bringing authentic Spanish cuisine to the UK, has created two set menu options priced at £40 and £55 per person, each including a selection of traditional starters, mains and sides, and concluding with a classic dessert.
The £40 menu begins with a selection of tapas including Pan con Tomate, Jamón Ibérico Croquetas, Boquerones and a Tortilla de Patatas. The main course features Braised Short Rib accompanied by olive oil mash and seasonal sides such as a green salad with honey vinaigrette and a Beetroot & Manchego Salad. The meal ends with Flan con Nata, described as “an indulgent Spanish classic”.
Meanwhile, the more elaborate £55 menu includes the same starters, followed by Grilled Wild White Prawns in Garlic Oil and a Stuffed Lamb Saddle, plus roasted potatoes alongside the same seasonal salads. Flan con Nata is again offered as the dessert.
The Swan Inn, located in the Surrey countryside, is part of Pizarro’s growing presence in the UK’s culinary scene. The team says, “José invites guests to celebrate Christmas the Spanish way, with vibrant dishes, relaxed hospitality and long, leisurely feasting at the heart of it all.” The offering marks a departure from the traditional British roast and figgy pudding, instead highlighting Mediterranean flavours and communal dining.
