Matt Damon and Ben Affleck lead the cast of The Rip, a tense new crime thriller arriving on Netflix globally from 16ᵗʰ January. Directed by Joe Carnahan (The Grey, Smokin’ Aces), the film follows a team of Miami cops whose loyalty is tested after they discover millions of dollars in cash inside a derelict stash house.

As word spreads about the scale of the seizure, outside threats close in – and the officers must decide who they can trust and what they’re willing to risk. Damon and Affleck also produce the film under their Artists Equity banner, joined by Dani Bernfeld and Luciana Damon. The ensemble cast includes Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins and Kyle Chandler.

Set against the heat and high stakes of Miami, The Rip explores themes of temptation, corruption and survival in the face of impossible choices. Speaking to Tudum, Damon explained, “They know that it’s almost certainly cartel money… They’re on the clock.” Affleck added: “What do you do when faced with this massive temptation? Who do you trust?”

With its high-profile cast and sharp premise, The Rip is one of Netflix’s most anticipated early-year releases – and marks another collaboration between longtime creative partners Damon and Affleck.
