Ikoyi co-founders launch Magma Concepts, bringing Michelin-starred flavours to home kitchens

Ikoyi co-founders executive chef Jeremy Chan and managing director Iré Hassan-Odukale are launching Magma Concepts, a new range of sauces and seasonings inspired by their Michelin-starred London restaurant’s distinctive flavours. The first product in the line, Magma Hot Sauce, will be released this March, with a tasting event scheduled at Ikoyi’s premises on the same day. The initiative is intended to make the restaurant’s signature flavour profiles accessible for everyday home cooking, while delivering “a touch of affordable luxury”.

Magma Hot Sauce is the result of a two-year development process and is designed to capture the “bold heat” characteristic of many Ikoyi dishes, while also offering undernotes of citrus and a deep umami-rich finish. The recipe features lacto-fermented chillies, citrus elements and a blend of two peppercorn varieties: White Penja from Cameroon and Red Kampot from Cambodia. The use of these rare peppercorns is intended to add both “white-hot” and “sweet-hot” notes to the sauce.

The product’s versatility is emphasised by the creators, who suggest it can be used in a variety of ways, such as on eggs, fried rice or pizza, or as an addition to mayonnaise, dipping sauces, marinades and even cocktails.

To mark the launch, Ikoyi will host a ticketed tasting event on 28th March, with time slots running from 2 to 8.15pm. Attendees will be offered a cocktail, beer or non-alcoholic beverage and a fried chicken or vegetarian dish with rice, accompanied by the new hot sauce. Each guest will also receive a bottle of the sauce and a branded tote bag, with T-shirts available for purchase separately. Tickets are priced at £50 and will be available from 25th February.
