Tom Kerridge’s Chelsea pub offers bottomless roast potatoes on Sundays in November

The Chalk Freehouse, Tom Kerridge’s pub in Chelsea, is offering bottomless roast potatoes every Sunday this November. From the 1st until the 29th, diners at the pub on Tryon Street, just off the King’s Road, can order a £9 portion with unlimited top-ups throughout their meal at no extra charge.

The potatoes are made with floury Maris Pipers using Kerridge’s method: they are poached until tender, then air-dried, after which they are added to hot oil and roasted until golden before being finished with flaky salt.

Sunday roasts on the menu with roast potatoes as their anchor include 30-day dry-aged ribeye of beef, half a Devonshire White chicken and a loin chop of Blythburgh pork. A meat-free option of seasonal vegetable ragu with braised Portobello mushroom is also available. Each roast comes with the famous side, along with crushed carrot and a stuffed Yorkshire pudding.

Elsewhere on the Sunday menu are The Hand & Flowers Chicken and Duck Liver Parfait, served with poultry jelly, apricot chutney and toasted brioche, a Fillet of Mackerel with Disco Scallop Scampo and Red Fish Sauce and Olive Oil-baked Loin of Wild Cod, among many other options. For dessert there’s the pub’s Milk Bun & Butter with cold vanilla custard, “boozy fruits” and praline, a Chocolate Tart with smoked sea salt, pistachio and crème fraîche, and Vanilla Roasted Rice Pudding with White Chocolate and Raspberry.

The kitchen at the restored Victorian pub is run by head chef Tom De Keyser, who worked alongside Kerridge for more than a decade and previously led the kitchens at The Hand & Flowers and The Coach. He said: “Roast potatoes are always the first thing to disappear at Sunday lunch. There is something very familiar about a bowl being passed around the table and everyone going back for just one more. Sunday lunch should feel generous, relaxed and a little nostalgic, so throughout November we are making sure nobody needs to keep an eye on the last roastie. We’ll keep them coming.”
