Sticks’n’Sushi celebrates International Sushi Day with new menu, cocktail and masterclasses throughout June

Restaurant group Sticks’n’Sushi will run a series of events throughout June across its UK locations to mark International Sushi Day on 18th June, introducing a limited-edition set menu of flame-seared nigiri, a new cocktail and adult sushi masterclasses at its Battersea branch. The activities will be available until the 30th June at all UK restaurants, with bookings open via the company’s website.

The centrepiece of the month is the Aburi Setto menu, which features five new nigiri creations. Among them are Soy-cured Tuna topped with garlic butter, Parmesan and truffle dust; Seared Salmon with miso aioli; Avocado paired with Royal Beluski Exmoor Caviar; and Seared Yellowtail Kingfish served alongside Japanese Wagyu layered with Parmesan, shiitake, rice korokke and kizami wasabi. The selection is offered as a 10-piece set priced at £37, while individual pairs are available from £7.

Alongside the food offering, the restaurant has introduced a limited-edition cocktail, the Hojicha Yume, priced at £10.50. The drink uses roasted Japanese tea as its main flavour, combined with raspberry and Suntory Haku Vodka, and is finished with vegan foam. The cocktail draws on the rising profile of hojicha, which has followed matcha into wider use in hospitality.

The Battersea branch is additionally launching a new series of sushi masterclasses aimed at adults, with the first session scheduled for 9th June from 6.30pm to 8pm. Attendees will be served Prosecco, edamame and sake before being instructed by chefs in the preparation of several signature rolls, including Kappa Maki, Crispy Ebi and Shake Aioli. Participants will then eat their own creations accompanied by miso soup and fresh lemonade.

Sticks’n’Sushi was founded in a Copenhagen basement in 1994 by half-Danish, half-Japanese brothers Jens and Kim Rahbek, together with Thor Andersen. The company has since expanded to twelve restaurants in and around the Danish capital, three in Berlin and seventeen across the UK. Its UK sites include Wimbledon, Covent Garden, Greenwich, Canary Wharf, Victoria, King’s Road, Soho, White City, Shoreditch, Kingston, Oxford, Cambridge, Richmond, Islington, Battersea, Glasgow and Manchester.

The interior design of each restaurant draws on both Japanese and Danish influences, with individual features distinguishing each location. Customers can also join the Frequent Fisher loyalty scheme via the Sticks’n’Sushi app, which awards points on each visit.
