Is Tropical album launch at Hoxton Gallery
A great time for all at The Hoxton Gallery last night – edgy three-piece Is Tropical are back with a blast. Opening for the band was indie quartet LSA who counted Florence Welch among their fans in the crowd.
After some months spent in the recording studio with Luke Smith (Foals, Depeche Mode) and in Mongolia (yes, that’s right), Is Topical are dropping out their much anticipated second album I’m Leaving on Kitsuné – a mix of deep bass, hyped synths and garage drums all in the pot of good melody talent, once again.
The crowd was delighted to find the Hackney lads on the spot, ready to deliver another successful proof. Is Tropical showcased most of the new material and unexpectedly some of the tracks that brought them to the underground buzz in the first place (The Greeks and Lies), illustrating a path that’s growing up fast and all in the right direction.
What more can you expect from a gig than a raised adrenaline level when it’s done? That was exactly what we got at Hoxton Gallery. Something about these guys really works: rough and gentle, dark and ironic, easy and iconic,
Is Tropical say “I’m Leaving“, but we can’t complain about the trip.
