Here in the UK, we’ve got fresh young talent bleeding out of the walls. Competitions for cash prizes and record contracts are blasted left, right, and centre. It’s no surprise then, after a teary-eyed contestant is ruefully voted off, they turn to public audiences and church hall venues to spread their wings another way.

The wings, in this instance, take shape in the form of brothers Richard and Adam – the very same siblings on stage when Simon Cowell was pelted rapaciously with eggs – at Cadogan Hall last night for the final leg of their national tour. Joined by special guest and fellow Britain’s Got Talent contestant Charlotte Jaconelli and the ever-regal Rhydian Roberts, the repertoire of famed Broadway and West End epics left many happy faces in the bustle of middle aged women – and meandering husbands who were regrettably dragged along to the tirade – for the entire two hour concert.

Singing favourites from Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera, as well as a plethora of songs dedicated to beloved members of family and close friends, the dulcet baritones shared stories between songs of their journey from their humble home to the renowned stage in front of the infamous Simon Cowell. Their anecdotes are met with a polite smatter of sprite laughter and applause, but their breathtaking vocals are truly what steal the show for the night. Accompanied by an elegant string quartet, an overly enthusiastic pianist and a backing track, the lack of a complete live band takes away from what could have been an irrefutable triumph of a night.

A night of show tunes and fun, these humble brothers are one of the few acts to come from a UK talent show, and still attempt a laudable career. Refusing to fade back into the former mundane woodwork that was their life before their time on BGT, the pair clearly wants to share their talent with the world, and enjoy every step on the way there.
