One to watch: Isolated Heroes
In a landscape of often dreary, conventional fashion, keeping Britain’s flame of outrageousness for which it has always been known, are Isolated Heroes, the luxury ready to wear label by designer Samantha McEwen.

Anna Wintour has recently said that British fashion has “grown-up”, however Isolated Heroes is no doubt the refreshing anti-thesis to this statement. Now in its second year and based in Scotland, the label which launched on the back of McEwen’s much hyped graduate collection Voodoo Zumbies has received phenomenal media attention, and it’s not hard to see why.
The 90’s Clubkids of New York, Britain’s original rave generation and performance artists such as Leigh Bowery would without a doubt been big fans of Isolated Heroes bright and bold clothing. And indeed, Bowery seems to have played a big part in Miss McEwen’s design inspiration. The collection is a riot of colour and brash, African tribal style prints with a healthy dose of neon to up the eye catching ante. Isolated Heroes is reflective of the current wave of performance art-cum-nightlife fashions of the East London club scene championed by local legends such as Daniel Lismore and has been called “optimistic clothing for the new generation of the UK’s young and amazing”.
A recent capsule range of Ghetto 90s’ furs has been snapped up for a photo shoot by London’s hip alternative-style bible i-D Magazine. With a nod from tastemakers such as these, Isolated Heroes is one to watch.
