It seems as though celebrities have taken the phrase “new year, new me” quite literally for 2015. The year has barely begun and already Instagram has been filled with a host of cuts and colours that have left certain celebrities unrecognisable. Whether you’re heading to the salon next week and are looking for some inspiration or simply want to see what all the fuss is about, we’ve got the latest hair updates from the biggest names.
Scarlett Johansson is renowned for her elegant, Hollywood bombshell look so when she stepped out sporting a punk-inspired undercut at the Oscars, our jaws-dropped. Typically a style that we might run a mile from, Scarlett proves that adding a little edge can still exude class. By keeping the top long and opting for a platinum shade of blonde this ‘do is versatile and chic. We expect to see other celebrities taking on this look for 2015.
Nicole Richie has never been one to shy away from daring hair and has outdone herself this year. In January we saw her go from turquoise to bubble-gum pink (are there any colours left that she is yet to try?!) but Nicole found another way to surprise us when she showcased a messy pixie cut at the Tom Ford A/W 2015 show in Los Angeles last month. In accordance with her originality, Nicole has left her hair slightly longer than other celebrities who have gone for the chop. She’s also chosen an asymmetrical side-swept fringe and longer layers towards her face which add to her effortless vibe.
Kim Kardashian is one of the most talked about celebrities and she’s made sure 2015 is no different. We were initially in shock when Kim got rid of her signature luscious locks in favour of a layered bob but she didn’t stop there. In an image posted on Instagram last week before the Balmain Paris fashion show, Kim revealed herself as platinum blonde. The internet has since gone Kim-crazy (again) with debates over her newest transformation. We think it’s a little too bright for her olive skin tone and perhaps Kim should’ve followed in younger sister Khloe’s steps and gone for a honey-based colour.
Jared Leto has given men and women alike serious hair envy over the years with his flowing, ombre style – it’s what gave him his trendsetter status in Hollywood. But Jared forced Kim to share the spotlight in Paris last week when he stepped-out with dyed hair in the same hue and a length inches shorter than the Jared we’re accustomed to. Unlike the Keeping up with the Kardashian’s star however, Jared’s shaved, peroxide mane isn’t out of choice. His upcoming role as The Joker in the film Suicide Squad is the reason behind his makeover but we hope it’s here to stay as it gives Jared a sleek and sophisticated appearance.
