Celebrity fashion trends of 2015

Celebrities are always one step ahead when it comes to fashion, jumping into the next season long before anyone else.

Not only do they take up the front row – frow – of every fashion show across the globe including those in the fashion capitals of New York, London, Milan and Paris, they then don’t have to wait for the clothes to hit the shops. In fact, the models are barely off the runway before they are wearing their outfits.

Ellie Goulding, for example, was wearing a gown from the Alberta Ferretti Spring 2015 collection at the Elle Style Awards in February, whilst Keira Knightley wore Valentino Spring 2015 Couture at the Oscars in February. Meanwhile, Sienna Miller wore S/S 2015 Balenciaga to the American Sniper premiere in New York, way back in December 2014, when Spring and Summer was the last thing on most people’s minds as they wrapped up in hats, scarves and gloves.

A frow ticket is like gold dust, with regular faces including Anna Wintour and Alexa Chung alongside Hollywood actresses, pop stars and models – from Cara Delevingne to Millie Mackintosh. So, with this insight, is it any wonder they are at the forefront when it comes to wearing the latest fashion trends?

This year hasn’t been any different – 2015 has been a year of comebacks and celebrities didn’t waste anytime updating (or back dating) their wardrobes.

The 70s was one of those comebacks, with many a celebrity embracing it from head to toe – including Alexa Chung, who bought back the high-waisted suede skirt, and Jessie J who rocked the deep-v jumpsuit.

Then came the 90s including choker necklaces, jelly shoes, crop tops and dungarees. Celebs were quick to adopt this style from many of their childhoods, including FKA Twigs and singer Charlie XCX, who was born in the early 90s!

The real comeback of the 90s arrived in the form of denim dungarees. From Pixie Lott to Taylor Swift and Fearne Cotton – celebrities are resurrecting this style, with stonewash denim boyfriend jeans, skinny jeans and mom jeans, pinafore dresses and denim skirts. Although denim never went out of fashion, it isn’t since Justin and Britney rocked matching double denim outfits that we have seen so much of it

If you want to keep up with fashion and know what you should be wearing this Autumn/Winter – just look at what the celebs are already wearing! Rita Ora has already been spotted in a shirt from the House of Holland A/W collection in June, and in the same month she wore a dress from the Temperley London A/W collection to the Capital FM Summertime Ball.

According to Topshop it is “all about the waist this season”, so expect to see your favourite celebrities in a number of belted looks, as well as fake fur, checked print wool dresses and the good old LBD. Alongside this will be soft textures and autumnal colours with the return of corduroy!

Us mere mortals may not have the insight into fashion that A-list celebs have, but with fashion magazines, such as those from Magazines Direct, documenting their every outfit change, we can stay at least one step behind their fashionable shoes.
