Top ten trench coats for autumn

Top ten trench coats for autumn

Originally developed for British army officers, the trench coat has evolved from essential utility wear to an all time fashion favourite. During WW1, the style and fabrication were adapted accordingly for the soldiers who were sent off to war. They needed to wear something with a lightweight material but still durable enough to withstand unpredictable weather conditions.

This particular outerwear piece owes its legacy to luxury house Burberry. Its founder, Thomas Burberry, invented a specialised triple-proof fabric and submitted designs to the United Kingdom War Office in 1901.

Flash forward to 2016: there is now a range of styles available at various fashion retailers inspired by the classic military wear. So without further ado, here is a selection of top 10 trench coats that you should purchase for your autumn wardrobe.
