Attitude 300 Celebrating with Three: Tricentenary marked with a free display of 60 iconic covers

For the landmark 300^th issue of Attitude – the world’s biggest gay media brand – a gallery exhibition opened on Thursday the 16^th of August and a fresh new 68-page supplement was published along with the famous tricentennial issue.

Attitude 300 celebrating with Three features the publication’s 60 favourite covers and select quotes from the stars who graced it in the decades since the magazine has been in print. RuPaul stares out from one, insolent and seductive. George Michael smoulders in another, next to a particularly excellent quote of his in which he discusses being a “slut” and unashamed. And, as is appropriate on her 60^th birthday, Madonna’s image is one of the biggest in the room.

The covers and queer icons celebrated range from Rupert Everett and Sir Elton John to Beth Ditto and Laverne Cox. Even His Royal Highness Prince William, Duke of Cambridge has graced an issue – not to mention two prime ministers and five Spice Girls.

Darren Styles OBE, publisher and managing director of the magazine, said: “Everybody remembers their first Attitude. I certainly do (Marc Almond on the cover, issue 009) and the 60 covers we have picked remind us that sharing a story has the power to change the world.”

The exhibition is free to enter and will be held at London’s Hospital Club in Covent Garden all weekend, from 10am to 6pm.
