The latest leaks: What we might expect from the Samsung Galaxy S10
With the release of the latest addition to the Samsung Galaxy series, the S10, likely to be released early next year, there have been lots of rumours floating around the tech world with regard to what we might expect from Apple’s biggest rival. Though nothing is confirmed at this stage, here are some of the cards that may be on the table.
An in-screen fingerprint scanner and full-face scanner
Samsung may follow in the footsteps of Vivo and Huawei to incorporate an in-screen fingerprint scanner, something which would make sense if the full-screen rumours are true. It is also possible that they could replace their optical scanners with ultrasonic scanners for 3D face recognition, a feature of their iPhone rival.
A full-screen display and multiple colours
A recent leak suggests that there might be almost no edge surrounding the screen, meaning they would ditch the notches of previous models, and the front camera would possibly be built into the display itself. Another potential design feature is the introduction of a wide range of new colours, this will make every app you use or game you play a much better experience.
Three different sizes
Samsung has been offering the Galaxy Mini series for years as an alternative to the full-size phones, but there is now talk that there may be three different sizes on offer, making the models even more tailorable to your specific needs. This would also mean a more varied price range, with the more downmarket models at a more affordable figure.
No headphone jack
If this is true, it could bad news for those relying on Samsung to be the less awkward alternative to Apple. Though iPhones were rid of this feature a while ago, it’s more surprising that Samsung may head in a similar direction.
A triple-lens rear camera
There have been rumours that if there are to be three models, the top might offer a triple-lens rear camera to compete with the Huawei P20 Pro and the rumoured new upgrade for the iPhone. This could include a wide-angle lens, a super-wide-angle lens and telephoto lens. There could even be a dual-lens front-facing camera, though what it would be for exactly is as-yet unknown.
All in all, if this hearsay turns out to be true, Samsung could be looking at a revolutionary new model which steps away from the similar-looking designs of previous incarnations and finally goes full-screen. This could be the first generation in a while to offer something dramatically different since the introduction of the Edge.
