After a 13-year hiatus, the cult comedy series Party Down returns to screen reuniting a team of hopeful caterers sporting silken pink bow-ties and filled with huge dreams of making it big in LA. The show revival will consist of six 30-minute episodes written by John Enbom in collaboration with original executive producers Paul Rudd, Rob Thomas and Dan Etheridge.

The cater-waiter team lose two of their initial cast members and are joined by a pair of new servers: experimental chef Lucy Dang (Zoe Chao) and part-time influencer and content creator Jackson (Tyrel Jackson Williams). Ken Marino returns as their hapless team leader Ron and fans will be excited to see Jennifer Garner climb on board in a brilliant role that could see her stay on if another season is commissioned. Whilst everyone gets reacquainted, the fun begins when the Party Down company assist at the functions and parties that the oddball LA crowd host. There’s the dreamy prom the child actor missed out on, the cringe-worthy karaoke party and many more feats that allow the comedy and mishaps to flow through the show.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to Martin Starr and Ryan Hansen about reprising their roles in this show, what it was like to work with Garner and their favourite episode in this season.

Newcomers Chao and Williams discussed coming on board to the series and mixing with the original cast. They open up about what their characters are like, getting to play those parts and the standout moments of making the show.

Showrunner Enbom discusses returning to form, what he’s learnt about the journey so far and the collaborative process with the producers and cast. He also shared why he decided to add in new characters and what it was like working on all the fun ideas for the different parties.
