“Each and every person can make a difference, no matter how old they are”: Mason Blomberg and Ava Louise Murchison on Jane’s Animal Adventures

Jane’s Animal Adventures is the delightfully imaginative, new ten-episode series for kids and families from Emmy Award winner JJ Johnson, inspired by the work of world-renowned conservationist Dr Jane Goodall. Ava Louise Murchison (Reacher) takes on the lead role as the titular Jane, a passionate, nine-year-old environmentalist who is on a quest to save endangered animals with her best friend, David, played by Mason Blomberg (Shameless), and, of course, Greybeard the chimpanzee. With the aid of some well-placed CGI, the adventures they dream of weave into their everyday reality, where they, too, hope to make a difference. The sentiment of the show is held in the repeated mantra from Goodall herself – “Only if we understand, will we care. Only if we care, will we help. Only if we help, can they be saved” – inspiring and educating people of all ages about how to protect our world.

The Upcoming caught up with actors Blomberg and Murchison about their roles, and how they were inspired by Goodall and learned more about her work while preparing for their roles. They also revealed the challenges of acting with CGI animals and the fun they had filming in various locations like Costa Rica and Kenya. Both actors hope that viewers will take away the importance of protecting the environment and individual action from the series. They also discussed their future projects, including voice acting for a cartoon and auditioning for new roles in film and TV.
