Dev Patel leaps into directorial debut with action-packed Monkey Man

British actor Dev Patel, best known for his roles in Lion and Slumdog Millionaire, is making his directorial debut with the action thriller Monkey Man, in which he also stars. The film’s first trailer has been released, giving audiences a taste of the high-octane vengeance quest set in a fictional city plagued by corruption and exploitation. Alongside Patel, the movie features a cast including Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Sikandar Kher, Adithi Kalkunte and Sobhita Dhulipala.

Monkey Man follows the story of “Kid”, portrayed by Patel, who is on an epic mission to avenge his mother’s murder and combat the societal injustices faced by the poor. The story is inspired by the legend of Hanuman, a symbol of strength and resilience. Kid, now an adult, engages in brutal underground fights while plotting his revenge against the city’s tyrannical elites. The movie promises to deliver groundbreaking fight sequences and chase scenes.

The screenplay is co-written by Patel, Paul Angunawela and John Collee, known for Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. The film is produced by a team including Patel, Jordan Peele, Oscar winner for Get Out, and Basil Iwanyk of the John Wick franchise.

As anticipation builds, Monkey Man prepares to deliver its blend of action and storytelling to cinema screens soon. Catch the trailer below.
