MUBI has officially announced the UK and Ireland release date for Quentin Dupieux’s much-anticipated satirical comedy, Yannick. Set to premiere exclusively on the platform from 5th April 2024, the film stars Raphaël Quenard, Blanche Gardin and Pio Marmaï, and promises to be a riotous exploration of the dynamic between artists and their audiences. The film, which has already garnered critical acclaim, made its debut at the Locarno International Film Festival 2023 where it clinched the award for Best European Film.

Yannick tells the story of a car park guard who, disillusioned by a theatre production he attends on his night off, decides to take matters into his own hands to reclaim his wasted time. The narrative follows his audacious attempt to become the playwright, challenging the notion that good entertainment is beyond the reach of someone with his background. Dupieux, known for his absurdist and satirical takes on societal norms, filmed Yannick in secrecy over just six days, adding a layer of intrigue to the project.

The director, also celebrated as a DJ under the name Mr Oizo, has a rich filmography that includes titles such as RubberWrongDeerskin and Mandibles. His movies are known for their unique blend of comedy, horror and absurdity, making Yannick one of the most anticipated releases on MUBI’s schedule.
