Bleecker to launch Minetta Tavern-inspired burger for one day only on National Burger Day

Bleecker will serve a limited-edition burger inspired by New York’s Minetta Tavern for one day only on Thursday 27th August, alongside a 20 per cent discount on all burgers ordered in person, across all of its locations including its outlet at Seven Dials Market in Covent Garden. The one-day special marks National Burger Day, the annual UK event celebrating the dish.

The Minetta Tavern Burger consists of two Bleecker beef patties, caramelised onions, cheddar cheese and house sauce, served in the chain’s sesame-seeded bun. It will be available only on 27th August and only while stocks last.

The burger takes its name from the Greenwich Village restaurant that has operated on MacDougal Street since 1937 and was revived by the restaurateur Keith McNally in 2008. Its Black Label Burger, a dry-aged blend served with caramelised onions, has become one of the more widely discussed burgers in New York over the past two decades, and is frequently cited in rankings of the city’s best.

The idea for this year’s National Burger Day special followed a visit by founder Zan Kaufman to Minetta Tavern in New York earlier in the summer. Having tried the original, Kaufman returned to London intending to create a version of the burger under the Bleecker name.

Alongside the special, Bleecker is offering a 20 per cent discount on all burgers ordered in person on the day. The discount is not available on delivery orders, and customers are required to register in advance through the website in order to claim it.

Bleecker was founded by Kaufman, a former lawyer, as a food truck in 2012. The business has since expanded to eight bricks-and-mortar sites across London, along with a delivery kitchen in Battersea, and remains independently owned with no outside investors.

The company was ranked first in the World’s 101 Best Burger Places 2026, a list compiled by Upper Cut Media House Ltd, and was also named Best in Europe in the same ranking. It previously won the UK National Burger Award in 2020 and 2024.
