Adam Handling and Stephen McLaughlin to host collaborative Scottish fine dining event at Frog in Covent Garden

Adam Handling and Stephen McLaughlin to host collaborative Scottish fine dining event at Frog in Covent Garden

On 21st July, Michelin-starred chefs Adam Handling and Stephen McLaughlin will join forces for a one-off collaborative dinner at Frog by Adam Handling in Covent Garden, aiming to celebrate shared history, Scottish heritage and contemporary fine dining. It marks the final instalment in Handling’s Friends of Frog series, which has previously featured guest chefs including Angelo Sato, Mickael Viljanen and Aktar Islam.

McLaughlin is head chef at Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles, Scotland’s only two-Michelin-starred restaurant – which holds personal significance for Handling, who began his culinary career at Gleneagles at the age of 16. Both have developed refined, produce-driven cooking styles and long-standing commitment to British ingredients. The dinner next Monday will feature a seven-course tasting menu, presenting original dishes that reflect their individual approaches. The menu includes Sea Bream with Fermented Tomato and Spruce from Handling, and Liquid-Centred Foie Gras Cromesquis with Carrot and Ginger Condiment from McLaughlin. Other highlights include Cumbrian lamb with tandoori cauliflower and asparagus, and home-smoked Scottish lobster with lime and herb butter.

In addition to the food, the evening will feature a curated selection of Krug champagnes. Handling and McLaughlin are both brand ambassadors for the champagne house, and guests will have the option to pair their meal with vintages including Krug Grande Cuvée 173rd Edition (from the 2017 harvest, the year Frog opened), Krug 2011 (marking Andrew Fairlie’s second Michelin star) and Krug 2004 (the year Handling began his apprenticeship at Gleneagles).

Handling, who earned his first Michelin star in 2022, operates several venues across the UK as part of the Adam Handling Collection. McLaughlin’s restaurant, Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles, has held two Michelin stars for two decades and was named the UK’s top restaurant by Harden’s in 2023. Both chefs will be present in the kitchen on the night, preparing each course side by side. Organisers say, “This dinner is about legacy, precision, and modern Scottish excellence – brought to life in the heart of London.”
