Vagabond launches app-powered wine flights to personalise tasting experience in London and Birmingham bars

Vagabond Wine Bars has recently introduced a new digital wine tasting experience across its nine venues in London and Birmingham. The initiative allows customers to build personalised wine flights using a mobile app, with prices starting at £5, with the aim of making wine tasting more accessible and tailored to individual preferences.

The concept, referred to as Digital Wine Flights, is designed to help customers identify their preferred wine styles through a short quiz on the Vagabond app. Based on their responses, users are matched with a specific wine profile—such as Bold, Crisp, Rich or Orange—and can sample four 25ml glasses that reflect this style. The wines are poured directly by customers using Vagabond’s self-serve dispensers, a feature already present in the bars.

Christobell Giles, Managing Director at Vagabond, said: “Wine is an ongoing process – even the most experienced drinkers are still learning. These flights are about making that process more engaging and accessible. Whether you’re 21 or 61, wine discovery should be personal, easy and fun – and that’s exactly what this delivers.”

The launch comes amid shifting drinking habits, particularly among younger adults. A 2025 survey by Bevtrac found that 76% of UK adults aged 18–27 reported drinking alcohol in the past six months, up from 66% in 2023. The same group is reportedly more inclined to drink in bars than older generations, suggesting a growing interest in social and exploratory drinking experiences.

The initiative also becomes an opportunity for both novice and seasoned wine drinkers to explore new options without the pressure often associated with traditional wine menus or sommelier-led tastings.

The service is available without prior booking. Customers can visit any Vagabond location, download the app, complete the quiz and begin their tasting session. With over 100 wines available by the glass—including natural, orange, sparkling and classic varieties— the selection on offer is broad enough to cater to a range of palates.
