Secret Negroni Bar to open beneath Chinatown’s Noodle & Beer for September

A hidden cocktail bar will open beneath popular Chinatown restaurant Noodle & Beer this September, as part of a collaboration with Italian aperitif brand Campari. The temporary Secret Negroni Bar will launch on Thursday 4th September and remain open until the end of the month at the restaurant’s Wardour Street location, marking Negroni Month and featuring a limited menu of three variations on the classic cocktail.

Located beneath the main dining area of Noodle & Beer, the bar will be adorned with Campari-themed décor and serve a menu of Negroni cocktails designed to complement the restaurant’s Sichuan-inspired dishes. The drinks menu includes a traditional Classic Negroni, made with equal parts Campari, gin and sweet vermouth, a Sparkling Sake Negroni for a lighter, effervescent twist, and a Plum Umeshu Negroni, which uses sweet plum liqueur in place of vermouth, resulting in a fruitier flavour profile.

To mark the opening night, the first 50 diners will receive a complimentary Negroni with the purchase of any main dish. According to the organisers, guests must say the phrase “I love Negronis” to their server between 6pm and midnight in order to claim the offer. The cocktails are intended to pair with the restaurant’s menu of spicy noodle dishes and small plates, such as Crispy Beef Jerky, Courgette Fries and Lang-Ya Tu Dou (a dish of potato, coriander, spring onion and pickled vegetables). Signature mains include dry or soup noodle dishes such as Super King Braised Beef and the extra spicy Xian Jiao Niu-Rou.
