Royal Horseguards Hotel in Whitehall unveils The Green Parlour for botanical-inspired breakfast and afternoon tea

The Royal Horseguards Hotel has opened a new dining venue, The Green Parlour, offering breakfast and afternoon tea in a botanical-inspired setting. Located in Whitehall, near the Thames and key landmarks such as Embankment and St James’s Park, the aim is to provide a tranquil space for both hotel guests and visitors.

The new eatery is set within the historic Victorian architecture of the Royal Horseguards Hotel, and features a light, garden-themed interior designed to evoke London’s parks and Victorian pleasure gardens. Along with the décor, the menus (with breakfast daily from 7.30am to 10.30am, and afternoon tea from 1pm to 4pm) also reflect the botanical influence.

Breakfast options range from traditional items such as the Royal Horseguards Breakfast Doorstep to lighter dishes like crushed avocado on sourdough and berry porridge, and there are treats from the in-house bakery such as croissants, almond pastries and pain au chocolat. Meanwhile, the afternoon tea menu, priced at £60 per person, includes a variety of savoury and sweet items. Sandwiches include beetroot-cured smoked salmon with lemon-parsley cream cheese, peppered pastrami with mustard aioli, truffled egg mayonnaise with chives, and minted ricotta with cucumber ribbons. These are followed by scones – plain and flavoured with star anise and orange zest – served with raspberry and blackberry preserves and Cornish clotted cream. The dessert selection draws inspiration from London parks: a lavender cheesecake referencing Primrose Hill, a chocolate éclair symbolising Hyde Park, a spiced choux bun with gold leaf representing Green Park and a pineapple and yuzu entremet inspired by Holland Park’s Kyoto Garden.

A drinks menu accompanies the food offerings, including botanical-themed cocktails such as the Lychee on the Heath and Regent’s Breeze, as well as English sparkling wines from producers like Louis Pommery and Henners. Non-alcoholic options include the Green Parlour Spritz, alongside a range of teas, coffees, and juices.

The Green Parlour is part of a broader update to the Royal Horseguards Hotel, which is operated by the Clermont Hotel Group, with further developments planned for 2026.
