Unfortunate: The Untold Story of Ursula the Sea Witch set to make a splash at The Other Palace this February

Following a string of sell-out runs and a national tour, cult hit Unfortunate: The Untold Story of Ursula the Sea Witch is heading to London’s The Other Palace for a strictly limited season from 6ᵗʰ February to 5ᵗʰ April 2026.

This newly revamped production of the irreverent musical parody arrives fresh from a festive stint at The Lowry, and promises an updated take on the sea witch’s side of the story – featuring new set and costume designs, additional characters, and sharper material, all delivered in a streamlined two-hour runtime (including an interval).

Written by Robyn Grant and Daniel Foxx, with music by award-winning composer Tim Gilvin, Unfortunate turns the tide on the classic Little Mermaid tale, reimagining Ursula as a bold, complex anti-heroine with plenty to say. Packed with dark humour, unexpected twists, and a filthy pop-fuelled soundtrack, the show offers a smart, subversive spin on the familiar.

Director and co-writer Robyn Grant said: “We’re really proud of this version of Unfortunate – it’s bigger, slicker and funnier than ever. It’s been amazing to see how audiences have embraced this story over the years, and we can’t wait to bring it to The Other Palace.”

Foxx added: “We always knew Ursula had more to say, and this production gives her the space to be outrageous, powerful and hilarious – all on her own terms.”

Unfortunate first premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019 and has since built a strong following thanks to its unique voice, inclusive message, and riotous energy. The current production features choreography by Melody Sinclair-Marsh, puppet and movement direction by Laura Cubitt, and designs by Jasmine Swan. It’s produced by Wildpark Entertainment, Runaway Entertainment, The Vaults, Stoddart Entertainment, and Dianne Roberts.

Performances run Tuesday to Saturday at 7.30pm, with matinees on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 3pm. Tickets start at £20 and are available at theotherpalace.co.uk. Age guidance: 16+.
